Illiteracy Rate & Female - UNESCO Figures

In some regions, about half of women are illiterate. This figure also applies to young women and girls, although figures are more favorable. The total number is about 771 million illiterates, of which 2 / 3 of women.


Connection of Illiteracy & Fertility rate in Female:
There are approximately 137 million illiterate young people or children, of which 61% girls. When the schooling rate and the employment rate of women increases, the fertility rate falls rapidly and tends to stabilize around the level of physiological reproduction of 2.1 children per woman.  Currently in the main countries the literacy rate tends to approach and exceed 50% of women, and so related, increases birth control. In 2001 the fertility rate in China stood at 1.8 children per woman, 3.2 children in India, Iran and Indonesia 2.6 children, 3.5 children in Egypt, 2.1 children in the U.S., France United Kingdom and 1.8 children in Germany, Italy and Spain, 1.3 children, 1.2 children in Russia and Japan.

Illiteracy in 2/3 of women worldwide

It is estimated that worldwide there are over 100 million children not attending school and more than 800 million illiterate adults, two thirds of whom are women. All these people are becoming a victim to suffer hardships in their career, permanent poverty and marginalization. From the perspective of UNESCO, literacy is a prerequisite for achieving effective participation and a tool for the strengthening of the human individual in community level. Literacy is not limited to read and write, but the individual is able to communicate and develop in a society that is constantly changing.
